The five stars of traditional Fukui crafts　伝　Echizen Manufacturing Villaage Project

Extremely rare throughout the country, five traditional crafts can be found in the 10 kilometer radius of the Tannan area in Fukui Prefecture: Echizen lacquerware, Echizen washi, Echizen knife, Echizen pottery, and Echizen chest. The purpose of the Echizen Monozukuri-no-Sato Project is to harness the unique features of this region and, through cooperation between craft producing areas, local governments, and commerce and trade associations, strengthen Fukui’s traditional craft brands.
