三上誠は近・現代の福井で最も重要な画家の一人です。革新的美術グループ「パンリアル美術協会」のリーダーとして活躍し、日本画の現代美術化を推し進めました。しかし健康に恵まれず、27歳で肺結核に倒れて以来、何度も治療のための手術や入退院を繰り返し、52歳で亡くなりました。本作品は、三上の初期の代表作です。空襲で焼かれた福井の街が描かれており、若い女の顔は妹、右の二人は父母を思いながら描いたと自ら語っています。画面中に不思議なイメージがちりばめられており、瓦礫の街や灰色の雲が描かれていますが、悲壮感や絶望感より、希望や復興を感じさせます。

Makoto Mikami stands as a pivotal figure in the realm of modern and contemporary Fukui painting - a visionary leader at the forefront of the innovative Pan Real Art Association. His unwavering commitment to transforming Japanese painting into a modern art form left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape.
Despite grappling with fragile health, Mikami's artistic fervor remained undiminished. Afflicted by pulmonary tuberculosis at the tender age of 27, he endured a series of surgeries and hospitalizations, succumbing to the illness at 52. Yet, his legacy endures through a body of work that transcends the limitations of his physical condition.
One such masterpiece is Mikami's early opus—a poignant portrayal of post-war Fukui. Amidst the desolation wrought by air raids, the work captures the haunting visage of a city in ruins. At its heart lies a young woman's countenance, an embodiment of Mikami's sister, flanked by figures representing his parents. Mysterious motifs punctuate the composition, imbuing the scene with an aura of enigma and introspection.
Yet, amidst the rubble and gray clouds, a glimmer of optimism emerges—a testament to Mikami's resilience and unwavering faith in the human spirit. 三上诚是福井近现代最重要的画家之一。他是革新美术团体“汎真美术协会”的领导者，推进了日本画的现代美术化进程。但是他缠绵病榻，自27岁染上肺结核以来，接受了多次治疗及手术，不断入院、出院，最终于52岁撒手人寰。本作品是三上诚早年的代表作之一。据画家本人所说，这幅画描绘的是遭受空袭后被烧毁的福井街道，他以妹妹为蓝本绘制了画中年轻女性的脸，思念着父母绘制了画面右侧的二人。令人感到不可思议的是，虽然本作品画面十分阴翳，描绘了残垣断瓦的街道和灰蒙蒙的云层，但是并未让人产生悲壮感或绝望感，而是向观画者传达了希望和复兴的信念。
